About

  • The inaugural APAC Film Festival is here to provide a platform for emerging young filmmakers to shine. In 2025, APAC eagerly awaits the outstanding productions from year 12 Queensland students, offering them a chance to showcase their remarkable creations.

  • All films will also be considered for Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design or Best Editing as well as their nominated category.

  • Animated films are eligible for Best Short Film and Best Trailer or Pilot Sequence. They do not have a separate category.

  • To be eligible you must be a Queensland student in Year 12 at the time of your film submission.

  • Each student can submit a maximum of two entries.

  • Entries must not exceed 5 minutes in length, including titles and credits.

  • Submissions must be suitable for public viewing, devoid of obscene or offensive content, as determined by APAC officials.

  • Film files must be in .mov or .mp4 format.

  • A single representative, designated as the ‘director’ in the Film Freeway submission, will handle any prizes or publicity.

  • All key pre-production, production and post-production roles must be fulfilled by high school students, with mentoring allowed but no direct involvement from adults. This excludes actors, which can be of any age.

  • Films must have been made during the year of entry.

  • Consent from the entrant’s parent/guardian and teacher is mandatory; failure to obtain it will result in disqualification.

  • Actors under the age of 18 must have written consent from their parent/guardian; failure to obtain written proof will result in disqualification.

  • Submissions must be entirely original, with appropriate copyright permissions obtained.

  • Plagiarized or copyright material will lead to immediate disqualification.

  • The submitted version of the film within the entry period will be judged; no subsequent versions will be accepted.

  • APAC reserves the right to reassign films to more suitable categories.

  • APAC may use submitted films for teaching and promotional purposes across various media.

  • All decisions by APAC and the judges are final.

  • Prizes are non-transferable and non-redeemable for cash.

  • Winners will be announced during the Film Festival Awards Ceremony.

  • Compliance with reasonable requests from APAC organizers is mandatory.

  • You must agree to these terms and conditions when submitting a film.
